A Catalyst for Change

Purpose

Mumin Community Services believes that helping those stuck in a cycle of poverty for far too long is the most in need of our help.  That’s why we have embarked on a mission to look toward Africa and assist its people break this cycle of poverty through education, agriculture, water, and sustainable development.

Community agriculture projects.

What we've done

Mumin Community Services was a response to the lack of services that we observed among communities in low-income neighborhoods.  Our primary goal is to create social impact through collaborations, assessments, and training. We engage each community through a process of community assessment, planning, and implementation. This approach emphasizes no community member is left without access to the services they need.

Substainable Development

Working cooperatively with others is critical to achieving our mission and goals. Infrastructure investment is a powerful driver of economic activity. Done right, it holds enormous potential for alleviating poverty, improving access to basic services, creating employment and business, and ultimately contributing to the well-being of people and the planet.

Access to Water

With increasing demand, with population growth and more vulnerable resources because of climate change, this cooperation is becoming more essential if we're going to solve any of these problems. We commonly build water taps from piped-water systems, where a clean water source (such as a drilled borehole or protected spring) is connected to a water point distribution network. In the case of drilled wells, the borehole area with a cement slab prevents contamination of the water source during rainfall.

Education

Educating children to think critically and analytically, work creatively, collaborate with others, and develop tools for continuous learning which they will need to become productive citizens.  Our mentoring and training program strives to reach and empower youth in poorer communities. The program aims to assist disadvantaged youth in their quest to obtain a quality, relevant education in order to ensure that they are in a position to become global citizens and competitive, productive workers.  Giving them a real chance in life to fulfill their potential. This is achieved through art projects, school supplies giveaways, and workshop training.

Agriculture

Growing organically has many benefits.  And one benefit is sustaining our environment. We provide workshops on composting vegetation scraps, harnessing rainwater, and starting a seed bank.
